May 18, 2021

Appoints Matt Boccia to Lead Newly Formed Division

Landover, MD (May 18, 2021) – AirBoss of America‘s defense subsidiary has closed its acquisition of BlackBox Biometrics, a provider of wearable sensors designed to detect explosive blasts, through a potential $27 million deal that includes $7 million in upfront cash payment.

AirBoss Defense Group, which first announced the transaction in March, will pay the remaining $20 million over an eight-year period through future royalties as part of the agreement, the company said Monday.

ADG and B3 will integrate into a new division that will be led by Matt Boccia, president and CEO of B3, and will focus on developing integrated systems meant to protect military customers who perform high-threat missions.

Rochester Institute of Technology researchers formed B3 to commercial the Blast Gauge System developed through a contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Critical Solutions International, an ADG portfolio company, has been the exclusive global distributor of the system since 2018.

The U.S. Army, special operations forces and SWAT teams have adopted the Blast Gauge System for their missions.
